Michelle Congleton Smith grew up in the North Raleigh area and is proud to be a Triangle native. She received her undergraduate degree from East Carolina University as a third generation "Pirate" following in the footsteps of her father, Mort Congleton and maternal grandmother, Alice. She also received a double Masters degree in Substance Abuse Counseling and Mental Health from ECU and was a practicing therapist for over seven years. Michelle's love for the Triangle brought her back home to Raleigh in early 2000 where she began law school while still practicing as a therapist. She was awarded her law degree in 2004 from North Carolina Central University. In addition to her law practice, Michelle is also the founder and President of Models for Charity, a local 501C3 nonprofit organization that gives back to the community through volunteering and fashion related events.
